Mr. Darrell Norman Lawson

CEDAR BLUFF, Va. — Mr. Darrell Norman Lawson, age 79, of Cedar Bluff, VA passed away Wednesday November 27, 2012 following a brief illness. Born in Tazewell County, VA he was the son of the late William David Lawson Sr. and Geneva Dale Wells Lawson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife Jessie Evelyn Shelton Lawson; one brother William David Lawson Jr. and one sister Cletus Shutt.

Mr. Lawson served in the United States Army and was a retired coal miner and a member of the U.M.W.A. He was a faithful member of Clearview Methodist Church. Mr. Lawson was a beloved husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Mr. Lawson is survived by one daughter Mona Baldwin and husband Terry of Richlands, VA; two sons Gary Lawson and wife Leesa of Bluefield, VA and Anthony Lawson and wife Sarah of Jacksonville, FL. Four grandchildren Jerome Baldwin of Richlands, VA; Brooke Mulkey and husband Jason of Bluefield, VA; Amanda Crews and husband Brandon of Bluefield, VA and Bruce Lawson of Jacksonville, FL. Six great-grandchildren Ayden, Heath, Jack and Maximus Crews; Noah and Patrick Mulkey. Three sisters Lorena Hess; Zelma Brown and Iwona Roberts. Many nieces and nephews survive. A host of many friends and church family members also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Darrell Lawson will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, December 1, 2013 (today) at the Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff, VA with Pastor James Brooks officiating. Entombment will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Claypool Hill, VA. Pallbearers will be Jerome Baldwin, Jason Mulkey, Brandon Crews, Leland Hess, Rick Blevins, Barry Shinall and Quay White. Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by the Casey-Short V.F.W. Post 9640.

The family received friends from 6-9 P.M. Saturday at the Singleton Funeral Service in Cedar Bluff, VA.
