Angelo F. Cameresi

ROANOKE, Va. — Angelo Cameresi, 78, of Roanoke passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2013 after a long fight with heart and lung disease. Angelo was born in McComas, WV on October 8, 1935 where he attended school.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Motor-T mechanic. After the service he returned to McComas where he began his training as a machinist on the linotype at the Bluefield Daily Telegraph in Bluefield, WV. Angelo then moved to Roanoke, Va. to begin work as a machinist and printer at the Roanoke Times & World News where he retired after 34 years of service.

Angelo was so proud of all his family, his Italian Heritage and was a proud West Virginian. He was a loving husband, father, step-grandfather, step-great-grandfather, and friend to all who knew him. He had a way of lighting up all who knew him every day. He was always quick with a joke, a prank, a hug, or a smile to make family and a friend’s day. Angelo was an avid fisherman and loved his time he spent on the waters with his son, daughter, and friends.

Angelo was led in his journey to heaven by his parents, Carlo and Minnie Sparks; daughter, Victoria Cameresi Williams; sisters, Pansy Craft, Edith Eller, Nellie Watkins, Josephine Moses; brothers, Louie Cameresi, Ray Cameresi, Joe Cameresi and Jimmy Cameresi.

Left to carry on his memory are his loving wife of 53 years, Carol Kirby Cameresi; son, Chris Cameresi; grand dog, Jeter; son-in law, Randy Williams; step grand-daughters, Crystal Williams and Jamie Williams; four step grandsons; a sister, Deanie Cameresi Short, and one brother, Robert Cameresi, along with numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm, Monday, October 28, 2013 at Simpson Funeral Home in Roanoke, Va. A funeral service will be 1:00 pm Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Heart Association and Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research in his memory.
