Samuel C. “Arlo” Weiss Sr., 79, of Speedway, died peacefully Wednesday evening, October 23, 2013 at Princeton Community Hospital.
Born October 27, 1933, in Lerona, he was the son of the late James Haven Weiss and Gladys Richmond Weiss.
Mr. Weiss was a retired Sergeant First Class with the U.S. Army having served his country for 22 years. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict and the Vietnam conflict, serving as a communication expert. Following his retirement in 1973 from the Army, Mr. Weiss was employed by Pipestem State Park where he worked until he retired.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving and caring wife of 53 years, Gypsy Faith Bowling Weiss.
Survivors include his three children, Lawrence A. Weiss of Princeton, Terry Lee, Weiss and Samuel C. Weiss Jr. both of Athens. Four grandchildren whom he loved dearly, Tabatha W. Caldwell and husband Chuck, Anthony Weiss and wife Jessica, Candace Perdue, Ariel Weiss. Two great-grandchildren, Reaghan Weiss and J.J. Perdue. His special 4-legged companion, Little Lady. Several brothers and sisters and a host of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held 2:30 PM today (Friday), October 25, 2013 at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery in Princeton.
Friends may visit with the family today (Friday) at the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton from 2:00 PM until 2:30 PM.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
