BLUEFIELD, Va. —
Betty Joy Kelly Peake, 78, formerly of Route 5 Bull Tail Hollow Road in Bluefield, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at the Westwood Center in Bluefield, VA where she had been a resident for the past three years.
Betty was born February 7, 1935 in Bluefield to the late Rich Kelly and Grace Gordon Burton. She had lived in Bluefield since the early 70's. In her younger years, she lived in Cocoa Beach, FL and Cape Canaveral, FL, working for the NASA Space Center in Cape Canaveral. While her health permitted, Betty enjoyed flea markets and playing bingo.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of thirty-six years, Jerry Clyde Peake; a son, Ray Cox who passed away in January 2013; and a grandson, David Joseph Haynes.
Survivors include one son, David Roger Haynes of Bluefield; one granddaughter, Wendy Haynes of Fredericksburg, VA; three grandsons, Mike Cox of Fincastle, VA, Steve Cox and Matt Cox both of Bluefield; nine great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law who she dearly loved, Susan Cox of Bluefield.
A service to celebrate the life of Betty Peake will be conducted at 7:00 PM, Friday, October 25, 2013 (today) at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with the Rev. Jim Mullens and the Rev. Tony Reed officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6:00 PM until the service hour today. In keeping with Betty's wishes her body will be cremated following the service.
