TAZEWELL, Va. — John P. Gacek, age 87, of Tazewell, VA died Sunday, October 13, 2013 at his home. Born October 18, 1925 in Pennsylvania, he was a son of the late Albert and Anna Gacek. He was of the Catholic faith. He was a retired mining construction engineer.

Mr. Gacek was a big WVU and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He enjoyed fishing, mowing with his John Deer tractor, and visiting with his neighbors.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife, JoLynn Westmoreland Gacek; one daughter, Mary Wimmer and husband, Tim of Tazewell, VA; two grandchildren, Jessica Davidson and Rachel Gearheart; two sisters, Rose Cox of Virginia Beach, VA and Kay Pecjak of California; one brother, Walter “Vudge” Gacek of Pennsylvania; several nieces and nephews; and his favorite cat, Aubrey.

In keeping with his wishes, his body will be cremated and there will be no services.
