ARLINGTON, Va. —
Kenneth Leroy Thompson, 52, of Arlington, Va., formerly of McDowell County, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at the residence of Cameron Glen after a long illness in Arlington, Va.
Mr. Thompson was born December 26, 2013 to the late Alberta and Robert Thompson. He was a construction worker and plumbing tech. Our father Kenneth was a good father and a better grandfather since day one, he would do whatever it took to make his grandchildren happy. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He loved the Lord. He was a funny and outgoing person and to know him was to love him, he gave nickname to everyone, Kenneth II (garbage disposal), Shavese (baby girl), Karmelta (Squastach), Keesha (Pippy), Myleah (Squirt), Jay’ron (Buhda), Anika (Baby-new year), Kimberly (Kizzy), Schmelta (Flossy), Donika (Pie Face), Marquest (Duck Man), O’dashia (Red), Jackie (Louciel), James (Keller), Taylee (Lil biter), Valarie (Persey), Titi (Jospheine), Shermika (Head), Da’naysha (Lil diva), BJ (Little man) and Sabrina (Sister-in-law). We will always love you “Special K”
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Robert and Nellie Jordan; uncles, Robert Jordan Jr., James Thompson, Jeffrey Wayne Jordan and two aunts, Rosea Lee Gonzalez and Mary King.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 22 years, Valarie A Thompson of Arlington, Va.; one sister, Kimberly Stafford of GA; three aunts, Gertude (Claud) Harvey of Virginia, Gloria G. Harvey of NY, Amma Thompson of WV; two uncles, Louis J. Jordan and Charles E. Jordan, both of NY; three sons, Benjamin E. Carter of MD, Kenneth L. Thompson, II (Halian) (Guyana) and Kelvin L. Thompson (Andrea) of VA; four daughters, Shemika Winebush, Keesha Thompson, Kamelta Thompson, Sharese Ingram, all of WV; and 13 grandchildren, Anika, Jayron, Myleah, Ke’asia, Jamari, Da’naysha, La’Dainien, Malachi and Ka’llyah; and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins; three special friends, James Poole of VA, David (Gwen) and James Keeling of WV.
Funeral services will be Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Apostolic Lighthouse of Deliverance Temple, 121 Morgan Street, Beckley, WV., at 12 noon, officiating will be Bishop James Jones. Visitation will be one hour prior to service.
