BISHOP, Va. — Pastor Oscar William Woodall, Sr. age 60 of Bishop, VA went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 19, 2013 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Born August 18, 1953 in Bluefield, WV he was a son of Joseph Alva Woodall and Nellie Jones Woodall of Bishop, VA.

He was a 1973 graduate of Tazewell High School. He was currently serving as Pastor of the Dix Creek Community Church with 24 1/2 years of service. He was a former employee of C & A Wood Products of Bishop, VA. Oscar was an active member of the Bishop Fire Department for 20 years and the D.A.D. Fire Department. He was also a retired E.M.T. He was known as a loving person who tried to help everyone he knew.

He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Oscar and Sarah Jones; paternal grandparents, William and Mary I. Woodall.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his loving wife of thirty-nine years, Mary Charles Woodall; four sons, Oscar Woodall, II and wife, Angie of Salem, VA, Gordon Alva Woodall and wife, Kara, Timothy Wayne Woodall, Jerry Shayne Woodall and wife, Toshia, all of Bishop, VA; eight grandchildren, Cody Atwell-Asbury, Justin Woodall, Jackie Leigh-Ann Woodall, Jasmine Woodall, Kyle Woodall, Alicia Woodall, Legend Woodall, Zack Woodall, and special angel, Cailyn Hodges; and many others he was an  “adopted” Paw-Paw to; two sisters, Christine Mercer of Dry Fork, VA and Mary Jane Woodall of Bishop, VA; three brothers-in-law, Donald Charles and wife, Debbie of Jacksonville, FL, Walter Brewster, Jr. and wife, Karen of War, WV, and William Brewster of Stanley, NC; special friends, Heather Sayers and husband, Fuzzy and Jennifer Newberry.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell, VA with Brother Sherman Osborne and Pastor Wayne Osborne officiating. Burial will follow at Woodall Cemetery at Grassy Spur in Bishop. VA. His sons and Josh Brown and Daniel Sawyers will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Mills Hicks, Brian Crouse, Brett Hicks, and Members of the Bishop Fire Department.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9 PM Monday, September 23, 2013.
