ROCK - George P. White, 95, of Rock (Pinoak), went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September15, 2013 at his home. Born June 7, 1918 at Herndon, he was the son of the late Sheridan White and Alice Stevens White.
George was a retired coal miner and member of the UMWA District 17. Later, he retired from Andy Clark Ford body shop in Princeton. He loved to fish and hunt and was an avid beekeeper. Also, he was a member of Rich Creek Baptist Church in Spanishburg for many years. He will be missed by his family and the many friends he made through his long lifetime.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Easter Walker White; one son, Alan White; one brother, Troy White; three sisters, Cora Lusk, Gracie Lusk and Virginia “Jenny” Stevens; and one great-granddaughter, Mercy Dickerson.
Survivors include one daughter, Paulette Phillips and husband, Eddie of Lerona; three sons, Phillip White and wife, Jill of Lashmeet, Mitchell White and wife, Stacy of Meadow Bridge and Larry White and wife, Violet of Pulaski, Va.; one daughter-in-law, Tina White of Rock; ten grandchildren, Jennifer Dickerson and husband, Scott, Justin White and wife, Kala, Jason White, Jared Phillips, Josh White, Jessica Phillips, Autumn White, Nicholas White, Regina Viers and husband, Tim and Renee Hendricks; and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 19, 2013 at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel with the Reverend Ralph Calfee officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Princeton. Family will serve as pallbearers.
