POCAHONTAS, Va. — Frank Joseph Smolarick, 70, of P.O. Box 192, Pocahontas, Va., passed away Thursday, November 1, 2012 at his home. Born in Pocahontas, Va., he was the son of the late Joseph Thomas Smolarick and Irene Nagy Smolarick.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines and served as Chief of Police in Pocahontas, Va. for seventeen years.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Garnell Jones Smolarick.

Survivors include children, Teresa Bowen (Patrick) of New Orleans, Tim Smolarick of Venice, Florida, Roxanne Smith (Allen) of Abb's Valley, Va., and Suzanne Bowman (Gary) of Bedford, Va.; one sister, Rebecca Riffe (Claude) of Fredericksburg, Va.; twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and two nieces.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 4, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Rodriguez Funeral Home in Pocahontas, Va. with the Rev. William Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Va. Pallbearers will be members of the family.

The Rodriguez Funeral Home in Pocahontas, Va. is serving the Smolarick family.
