PRINCETON — Randolph “Randy” Blake Thompson Sr., 68, of Princeton, went to be with our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, May 7, 2013. Born December 17, 1944, in Pinoak, W.Va., he was the son of the late Fielder and Myrtle Bowden Thompson.

Randy was a loving husband, dad, pop-paw, brother, uncle and friend. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. Randy graduated from Princeton High School in 1963, and was a retired coal miner with 30 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith and he loved the outdoors and spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Michael; father-in-law, James Blankenship; brothers, Cramer, Ronald, Jeff, and Michael Thompson, and sister, Linda Wilson.

He is survived by his loving and beautiful wife of 49 years, Carol Blankenship Thompson; two sons, Randy Thompson Jr. and his fiancé Casey Brown of Princeton and Kevin Thompson and his wife Lynn also of Princeton;  mother-in-law, Pauline Blankenship of Princeton; four grandchildren,  Blake, Brooke, and Levi Thompson of North Carolina, and Taylor Thompson of Princeton; step-granddaughter, Amaya Brown of Princeton; brother, Steve Thompson of North Carolina, and sisters, Patti Atwood of Indiana, and Judy Warden of North Carolina; sister-in-law, Debbie Blankenship of Princeton; 26 nephews and nieces; best buddies, Paul Grogan and Gary Carden; and his sidekick and pet “Puddin”.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2013 at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastors Eric Porterfield and Ralph Calfee officiating. Interment will follow at the Thompson Family Cemetery on the Double T Farm Road in Princeton. Serving as pallbearers will be friends and family.
