BLUEFIELD — Raymond “Skillet” Thurman Lowe Jr., 59, of 2410 Grassy Branch Road, Bluefield, W.Va., died Sunday, May 5, 2013 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center. He was born in Richlands, Va. and was the son of the late Raymond Thurman and Elsie Ashby Lowe Sr.

Mr. Lowe has retired from N&W Railroad and had also served his country in the United States Army in the  Vietnam War.

Mr. Lowe is survived by a son, Curtis Lowe, Bluefield, W.Va. and a daughter, Lisa Louise Lowe, Richlands, Va.; brothers, James Lowe and wife Barbara, Milton, Fla. and Alvis “Cracker” Lowe, Thompson Valley, Va.; sister, Ruthie “Sissy: Sawyers, Bluefield, Va.; seven grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Lowe will be held Thursday, May 9, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Dudley Memorial Chapel in Bluefield, Va. Burial will follow in the Maple Wood Cemetery in Tazewell, Va. His family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may visit with the family tonight from 6-9 p.m. at the Dudley Memorial Mortuary in Bluefield, Va.
