NORTH TAZEWELL, Va. —
Clara Fern Tinsley, age 79, of North Tazewell, Va., died Friday, April 26, 2013 at Carilion Tazewell Community Hospital in Tazewell, Va. She was born April 23, 1934 at Cedar Bluff, Va. and was the daughter of the late Glenn and Roxie Griffitts.
Fern was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who loved her family. When her health permitted, she enjoyed sewing, working in her gardens, and canning the vegetables from those gardens. She was a delightful lady who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-seven years, Bill Alvie Tinsley; one son, Scotty Tinsley.
Those left to cherish her memories include two brothers, Wayne Griffitts and wife, Judy of Delaware and Bill Griffitts and wife, Doris of Ohio; three grandsons, Brian Tinsley and wife, Rebecca of Roanoke, Va., Ian Tinsley of North Tazewell, Va., and Phelan Tinsley of Radford, Va.; two great-grandchildren, Jackson Tinsley and Stella Tinsley, both of Roanoke, Va.; daughter-in-law, Anita Tinsley of North Tazewell, Va.; caregiver and best friend, who was loved as a granddaughter, Tonya Hawkins of North Tazewell, Va.; nieces, nephews, other family members and friends also survive.
Funeral services for Clara Fern Tinsley will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 29, 2013 at Hurst–Scott Funeral Home in Tazewell, Va. with the Rev. Mark Sexton officiating. Burial will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Va. Pallbearers will be Ian Tinsley, Brian Tinsley, Tom Tinsley, Ronnie Perkins, Freddie Howery, and Garland Bandy.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6–8 p.m. Sunday, April 28, 2013.
