Lena Susan Boone

TAZEWELL, Va — Lena Susan Boone, 93, of Heritage Hall, Tazewell, Va., and formerly from Wolf Creek, passed safe in the arms of Jesus on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Heritage Hall.

She was born June 10, 1919 in Patrick County, Va. and was the daughter of the late John C. and Ellen A. Young.

She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ at Williams Chapel Wolf Creek, when her health permitted.

She was a homemaker who raised seven children.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Ellis Boone; sister, Gladys Jane Young; sister, Leah Smith; and a brother, Marvin G. Young. She was also preceded by a granddaughter, Dorothy Jane Boone and by three sons-in-law, Jack Cuniff, Raymond Poszich and Jack Watson.

She is survived by seven children: Gayle Patricia Tomberlin and husband James of Pineville, N.C., Mae Ellen Cuniff and late husband Jack of Wallingford, Pa., Carl Ellis Boone II and wife Diana of Madisonville, Ky., Rita Susan Belcher and husband Butch of North Tazewell, Va., John Daniel Boone and wife Shirley of Bluefield, Va., Freda Joann Poszich and late husband Raymond of Glenwood, Guy Fredrick Boone and wife Jamie of Clearfork Creek Road; 20 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Rutherford of Lebanon, Va.; several nieces, nephews and her church family at Williams Chapel on Wolf Creek.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Dudley Memorial Chapel in Bluefield, Va. with Rick Mathena and Frank Horn officiating. Burial will follow in the Maple Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Luke Proffitt, Jeff Boone, Marty Belcher, Randy Belcher, Ryan Belcher, Jeromey Poszich and D.J. Belcher.

Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, March 26,  2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Dudley Memorial Mortuary in Bluefield, Va. is serving the Boone family.
