Dolen “Donald” Shrewsbury, 72, of Beeson, died at his home on Friday, May 24, 2013. Born January 15, 1941 at Springton, he was the son of the late Theodore Shrewsbury and Macie Shrewsbury Shrewsbury.
He was a member of Beeson Chapel Church since 1998. He worked 28 years in the mining industry, mostly as a truck driver, hauling coal for the mines. He was also a self-employed truck driver, hauling timber for the mines. He was a member of the U.M.W.A., NRA and the American Rifle Association. He loved farming, hunting, fishing and working on antique cars.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Harold Shrewsbury.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Beatrice Wiblin Shrewsbury; one daughter, Kathy Bridgeman and husband Joe of Camp Creek; one son, Stephen Shrewsbury and wife Cheryl of Princeton; four grandsons, Kevin, Travis, Joshua and Ryan; one granddaughter, Carrie; two step-grandsons, Timothy “TJ” and Christopher; four step-granddaughters, Tiffany, Jessica, Chloe and Claire; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Shirley Shrewsbury of Beeson; one brother, Darrell Shrewsbury of Massillon, Ohio; and lifelong friends, Roger Lilly of Montcalm and Wayne McKenzie of Beeson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 27, 2013 at Beeson Chapel Church at Beeson with the Rev. Harold Taylor and the Rev. Maitland Bailey officiating. Interment will follow at the Shrewsbury Cemetery at Beeson. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may visit at Beeson Chapel Church from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, May 26, 2013 and one hour prior to the service on Monday.
