GRUNDY, Va. —
Born September 26, 1927 in Honaker, Virginia, he was the son of the late Worley and Grace Fuller. He later moved to Grundy and graduated from Grundy High School. While at Grundy, he excelled in sports, leading Grundy to a State Title in basketball in l946.
After high school, Bob was offered an athletic scholarship to Emory and Henry College, but instead enlisted in the United States Army serving first in Okinawa, Japan from 1946 to 1947. Just a short time before his call of duty was up, Bob was sent to serve in the Korean War from 1950 to 1951. While in service, he was Awarded the WWII Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal and received the Purple Heart after the Korean War. After military service, Bob started into business as an Insurance Claims Adjuster. In 1962, he opened Grundy Honda, which was still in operation at the time of His death.
In his personal life, Bob was an avid golfer with many titles to his name. He was a Founding member of Willowbrook Country Club. Bob was a dedicated member of Grundy Baptist Church where he served as deacon. He was also a member of the American Legion John Ratliff Post for over 30 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother Don Fuller And one sister Elizabeth Martin and brother In law Bud Martin.
Survivors include His wife of 59 years, Jean Fuller of Grundy; Three Daughters, Debbie Fletcher and husband David of Blacksburg, Virginia, Sharon Cronin and husband Dan of Locust Grove, Virginia; Traci Fuller and husband Steven of Abingdon, Virginia; Six Grandchildren, Carey Hutchins and husband Jordan, Catherine Sledd and husband Andrew, Matthew Cronin, Mandy Cronin, Kaci Fuller and Cole Fuller Three Great-Grandchildren, Caroline, Sam and Stella Hutchins; One Sister Mildred Sink of Salem, Virginia.
Funeral services for Robert (Bob) Fuller will be held on Friday May 24, 2013 1 PM at the Virginia Funeral Home Chapel at Grundy, Virginia with Rev Donald Tittle officiating with burial to follow at the Mountain Valley Memorial Park at Big Rock, Virginia .
The family will receive friends Thursday evening at the Virginia Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m.
Serving as Pallbearers will be David Fletcher, Dan Cronin, Steven Fuller, Jordan Hutchins, Andrew Sledd, Matthew Cronin, Cole Fuller and Tony Slone.
Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Men of the Grundy Baptist Church And his many Golfing Friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts of love can be made to Grundy Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 675, Grundy, Virginia 24614.
