Paul Douglas Blankenship, age 74, of Ballard, W.Va., passed away July 20, 2013 at his residence. Born September 12, 1938 at Man, W.Va., he was the son of the late James Watkins and Marie Margaret Galyean Blankenship.
Paul had worked as an electrician in the coal mines. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed hunting, racing and woodworking. Paul was known for his homemade instruments and was a U.S. Navy veteran. He retired from Smith Services in Princeton. What he loved most was spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.
Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Brenda Sue Roop Blankenship; four sons, Scott Blankenship of Walhalla, S.C., Leslie Blankenship and wife Kim of Kernersville, N.C., Boone Blankenship and wife Sara of Cashmere, W.Va. and Adam Blankenship and wife Susan of Ballard, W.Va.; one daughter, Anita Carden and husband Bobby of Peterstown, W.Va.; grandchildren, Jacob and Jonah Carden, Amber McGuire and husband Todd, Evan, Maggie, Emily, Tyler and Leila Blankenship and a great-granddaughter, Chloe Carden; and two sisters, Allene Hershey and husband Joe of Florida and Bonnie Goans of Ohio.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel, Peterstown, W.Va. with Pastor Timmy Sanderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Monte Vista Park Cemetery, Princeton, W.Va. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
