HURLEY, Va. —
Ruby E. Lester, age 86, of Hurley, Virginia, passed away Thursday, July 18, 2013 at Pikeville Medical Center, Pikeville, Kentucky.
Born July 22, 1926 in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late Roy and May Bell Rash Estep. She was a homemaker and was a member of The Hurley Church of God.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Lester and one sister, Audrey Estep Griffey.
Survivors include: Three daughters: Diana Lester of Hurley, Virginia, Darlene Burks and husband Benny of Grundy, Virginia, Brenda Lester and husband Bobby of Abingdon, Virginia. Two sons: Lloyd Lester and wife Judy of Abingdon, Virginia, Jerry Lester and wife Dorothy of Grundy, Virginia. Eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Four sisters: Madge Cowan and husband J D of Abingdon, Virginia, Pauline Chamberlain of Hurley, Virginia, Lucille Phillips and husband David of Abingdon, Virginia, Joann Matney of Abingdon, Virginia. Three brothers: Donald Estep and wife Ruth of Hurley, Virginia, Jackie Estep and wife Brenda of Abingdon, Virginia, Edd Estep of Jackson, Ohio.
A graveside service for Ruby E. Lester will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 21, 2013 at the Mausoleum at Mountain Valley Memorial Park at Big Rock, Virginia with Darrell Davis and Gary Charles officiating.
The family will receive friends at 6 p.m. Saturday evening at the Virginia Funeral Home with a song service being held at 7 p.m.
Serving as pallbearers will be friends and family.
Virginia Funeral Home of Grundy is in charge of arrangements.
