George Lewis Evans, 86, of 101 Haven Drive in Princeton, died Thursday, July 25, 2013 at the Princeton Health Care Center. Born December 27, 1927 in Princeton, he was the son of the late George Walter Evans and Edna Young Evans.
George was a graduate of Virginia Tech, attended Concord University and Bluefield State College. He was a retired mechanical engineer at Appalachian Power Company and a U.S. Army veteran. George loved animals and raised several pets throughout the years.
Survivors include his wife of sixty years, Shirley Ohde Evans of Princeton; two sons, George William “Bill” Evans of Richmond, Va. and Gerald Lewis “Jerry” Evans of Winston Salem, N.C.; and three granddaughters, Erin Evans, Hayley Evans, and Melissa Evans.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., today (Monday), July 29, 2013 at Resthaven Park Cemetery in Princeton with the Rev. Stella Falvo officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Perk Kitts, Mark Repass, Tommy Curry, Richard Smith, Gary Martin, and Dan Malone. Friends may call at Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton from 12:00 noon until the service hour today (Monday). Those attending the graveside service today are asked to meet at the funeral home by 12:30 p.m.
