• Minnie Ree (Dotson) Bailey, 58, of P.O. Box 181, Panther, died Friday, Oct. 19, 2007 at her residence. Mounts Funeral Home of Gilbert is in charge of arrangements.

• Arnold Duane Hetherington, 72, of the Hoges Chapel Community at Pembroke died Saturday morning October 20, 2007. Arrangements by Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke, Va.

Mary Louise Buzzo

BLUEFIELD — Mary Louise Buzzo, 78, of 116 Russell Terrace, Bluefield, died Friday, October 19, 2007 at her residence surrounded by her family.

She was born on December 23, 1928 in Bluefield, and was a daughter of the late Robert Caldwell and Flora Atwell Caldwell. She had worked at the Bluefield Sanitarium and retired from Bluefield Community Hospital after 26 years of service.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, James Marshall Caldwell and Bobby Eugene Caldwell; and sister, Margaret Hale.

Left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 64 years, Dominick J. Buzzo; one son, Thomas E. Buzzo and wife Gail of Rocky Gap, Va.; one daughter, Rosa M. Atwell and husband Palmer of Bluefield; one grandson, Thomas E. Buzzo, Jr. and his wife Kerry of Bluefield; three granddaughters, Traci Cucinotta and husband Leo of Boston, Mass., Cheryl R. Atwell and her special companion Joe Glover of Bluefield, and Shannon M. Lightfoot and husband Bill of Bluefield; four great-grandchildren, Justin and Logan Lightfoot and Dominick and Anthony Buzzo of Bluefield; two sisters, Deloris Gibson of Dublin, Va., and Kathryn Proffitt of Bluefield; one brother, Paul Edward Caldwell of Petersburgh, Va.; several nieces and nephews, and special friends, James Hamm, Mary Gillespie and Colin Gillespie all of Bluefield.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Paul Pugh officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jabo Williams, Dr. Marshall Long, Bill Lightfoot, Colin Gillespie, Jim Hamm and Tommy Buzzo, Jr.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening, October 22, 2007 from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m.

Howard Ryland Ealy

BLUEFIELD — Howard Ryland Ealy, 67, of Rt. 4 Box 62-C, Bluefield, passed away Saturday, October 20, 2007 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Born July 27, 1940 in Bluefield, he was the son of the late Howard Clifford Ealy and Nannie Ruth Stuart Ashworth. Mr. Ealy was a resident of Bluefield all of his life where he was the owner of Ealy Apartments and a car dealership in Brushfork. He was a U.S Army Veteran.

Survivors include: Two sons, Clifford Ealy and wife Margaret of Virginia Beach, Va., Jamie Ealy and wife Melissa of Morgantown; Four Grandchildren, One sister, Regina French of Gainesville, Fla.

Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday October 24, 2007 at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Father William Armstrong officiating. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Bluewell where family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Kimberly P. Galliher

TAZEWELL, Va. — Kimberly P. Galliher, 43, of Tazewell, Va., died Friday, October 19, 2007 at Tazewell Community Hospital in Tazewell, Va.

Born November 19, 1963 at Bluefield, Kimberly was the daughter of Jerry and Eleanor Galliher of Tazewell, Va. She was a 1982 graduate of Tazewell High School and a summa cum laude graduate of Longwood College, now Longwood University in Farmville, Va. Kimberly worked for a number of years for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey in their DC Office and was most recently employed by Arlington County Government. After being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, the last two years of her life were spent in Tazewell with her loving parents and friends. Kimberly was a lifelong member of the Main St. United Methodist Church in Tazewell, Va., where she was baptized at an early age.

She was preceded in death by grandparents, Roy Edward and Monta Musick Galliher and Herbert Randolph and Macie Irene Perdue Patton; aunts and uncles, Margaret and G.Y. Booker, Eddie and Mildred Hill, George and Shirley Glover, J.A. and Edith Brown, Louise Galliher and Doug Quesenberry.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by aunts and uncles, Ralph Galliher of Abingdon, Va., Sam and Carolyn Woolwine of Richmond, Va., H. Randolph and Phyllis Patton of Huntersville, N.C., and Verronia Quesenberry of Statesville, N.C.; and a number of loving cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends at Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell, Va., from 6-8 p.m. Monday, October 22, 2007 where a service of celebration of Kimberly's life will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. with the Rev. Kathie Wilson-Parker and the Rev. Dr. Thomas Conley officiating.

Vincent Carl Gonzin, Jr.

PRINCETON — Vincent Carl “Jay” Gonzin, Jr., 50, of Rt. 2, Box 316, Cordell Rd. in Princeton, died Saturday, October 20, 2007, at his residence.

Born in Wilmington, Del., October 17, 1957, he was the son of Nellie Ruth Gonzin of Princeton, and the late Vincent Carl Gonzin, Sr. He formerly served in the U.S. Army and had been a resident of Princeton since 1973 moving here from Wilmington, Del.

In addition to his father one brother, Daniel Jess Gonzin, preceded him in death.

In addition to his precious mother, Nellie, who loved “Jay” and served as his caregiver for the past 25 years Vincent is survived by two sons, Vincent Carl Gonzin, lll and his wife Candice and Steven Daniel Gonzin both of Annapolis, Md.; seven grandchildren, Kylie, Novalee, Stephanie, Alexis, Nathan, Jacob and Icarius Gonzin; one brother, James Stephen Gonzin of Weston; and four sisters, Lisa Gonzin Ellison of Denver, N.C., Helen Gonzin of Appomatox, Va., Venetia Susan Taylor and her husband Andrew and Jo Anne Gonzin all of Princeton; a favorite aunt, who was like a second mother to Vincent, Vera Cordell of Princeton; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 23, 2007, at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastor Scott Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the Hopkins Family Cemetery at Gardner where the Mercer County Veterans Council will conduct military graveside rites.

Pallbearers will be Vincent Carl Gonzin, 111, James Stephen Gonzin, Casey Evans, Franklin Jess Gonzin, Daniel Jason Gonzin and Logan Andrew Gonzin.

Mrs. Carol Sue Hughes

BRADSHAW — Mrs. Carol Sue Hughes, 65, of Bradshaw, passed away Saturday, October 20, 2007 at her home.

She was born in McDowell County and was the daughter of the late Creed and Zelma Conley Shepherd, both Kentucky natives.

She had made her home in the Bradshaw area all of her life and was the former owner and operator of Carol’s Snack Shack. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She was of the Pentecostal faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ace Loy Hughes; two brothers, Clovis and Roger Shepherd. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Survivors are: Two Daughters, Cherrie Ann Cline and Darlene Wright of Jewell Ridge, Va.; One Son: Ace Creed Hughes of Bradshaw; Special Sister in Law: Susie Shepherd of Bradshaw. Six Grandchildren and four Great Grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for Carol Sue Hughes will be conducted Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at 12:00 noon at the Family Worship Center at Jolo with the Rev. Charlie Rose officiating. Interment will follow at the Tom Sparks Cemetery near Paynesville, West Virginia. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.

Buster Jr. Miller

SKYGUSTY — Buster Jr. Miller, age 65, of Skygusty, went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 19, 2007 at a Roanoke hospital.

Jr. was a member of the Wilcoe Church of God and formerly a member of the Conklintown Church of God. He was a retired repairman from Fruit Growers Express in Alexandria, Va., and a retired coal miner from US Steel having worked at No. 9 and No. 50 mines. He was a member of the UMWA.

He was born on February 16, 1942 in Jenkinjones and was a son of Buster L. Miller, Sr. of Bluewell and the late Mildred C. Miller, who preceded him in death in November, 2001.

Those left to cherish his memory are: His wife of 31 years: Sylvia Fowler Miller of the home; His father: Buster L. Miller, Sr. of Bluewell; four brothers: Harold Miller of Bluefield, Va., Nick Miller and wife Zina of Bluefield, Va., Glenn Miller and wife Brenda of Bluefield, Va., Danny Miller of Anawalt; three sisters: Wanda Coe and husband Jim of Bluewell, Delsia Dillon and husband Jimmie, Sr. of Anawalt, Nancy Palmer and husband Jimbo of Bluewell.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, October 23, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev.'s Frank Sexton, Jim and Wanda Coe officiating. Entombment will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Bluefield, Va., with his brothers, Harold, Nick, Glenn and Danny, Jimmy Coe, Jr., Jimmie Dillon, Sr., and Jimbo Palmer. Dillard Ray Mills

ROANOKE, Va. — Dillard Ray Mills, 52, of Eckman, died early Friday morning October 19, 2007 at Carilion Memorial Hospital, Roanoke, Va., after a long illness.

Born July 22, 1955 in Welch, he was the son of the late Shade Lee Mills and Mable Rose Mills. He was a general laborer having worked in the carpentry business, was affiliated with the Holiness faith, and was a resident of McDowell County all his life. Other than his parents, He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

He is survived by His wife of 33 years, Janice Green Mills of the home; one son, Timothy Ray Mills and companion Rita Hall of Crumpler; two daughters, Lisa Marcum and husband Eric of Welch, Vennie Murphy and husband Sherman of Vivian; one brother, David Mills and wife, Mary Jane of Clarksville, Va.; one sister, Maddiline Mills of Davy; six grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at 12:00 Noon at the Widener Funeral Home Chapel, Northfork, with the Rev. Randy Green officiating. Burial will follow in the Big Jenny Cemetery, Big Jenny.

Clayton Rufus Stevenson

CANEBRAKE — Clayton Rufus Stevenson, 80, of Canebrake, passed away Saturday, October 20, 2007 at a Richlands, Va., hospital.

He was born July 12, 1927 at Valls Creek, and was the son of the late Arthur and Lizzie (Kizzie) Earls Stevenson.

He was a retired coal miner from Jacobs Fork and New River Mines (Pocahontas) and was a member of the UMWA Local No. 6633 of Hartwell. He had served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the House of Praise at Berwind.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Geneva Blankenship Stevenson; four brothers, Chapman, Hubert, Lloyd and Willis Stevenson; three sisters, Velma Keene, Euva McReynolds and Goldie Stevenson; and Grandson, Brian Wayne Hay.
