Iva L. Carroll
OAKVALE — Iva L. Carroll, 82, of Pigeon Creek Road in Oakvale, died Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at Princeton Community Hospital.
Born July 17, 1924 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Ocie Reen Belcher. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She had been a lifelong resident of the Oakvale area.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Maynard J. Carroll; one son, Jimmy Carroll; and three brothers preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Randy Carroll and wife Connie Of Oakvale and Donald Carroll of the home on Pigeon Creek Road; three grandchildren, Vickie Rogers and husband Rick of Princeton, Ernie Carroll and wife Holly and Becki Whitlow and husband Gene all of Oakvale; six great grandchildren, Chelsea Robinson, Trevor Rogers, Michael Whitlow, Kota Whitlow, Zach Meadows, and McKenzie Carroll; three sisters; and two brothers.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 23, 2007 at the Oakvale Church of the Brethren on Pigeon Creek Road in Oakvale with the Rev. Dewey Broyles officiating. Burial will follow at the Oakvale Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may call at the Oakvale Church of the Brethren in Oakvale from 12:00 noon until the service hour on Friday.

Albert Junior “Script” Gibson
WELCH — Albert Junior “Script” Gibson, 80, of Welch, went to be with the Lord Tuesday night, March 20, 2007 at Welch Community Hospital after a short illness. Born Oct. 24, 1926 in War Eagle, he was the son of the late Grover Cleveland “Cleve” Gibson and Ella Mafair Gibson.
He was affiliated with the Pentecostal Holiness faith, was a retired coal miner with 40 years of service having worked last at the U.S. Steel No. 4 Gary. He was a resident of Welch most of his life, and was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Susie Boshell Gibson on Aug. 21, 1998; one daughter, Peggy Ann Gibson; one grandson, Michael Mullins; one granddaughter, Keeyle Green; and several brothers and sisters.
He is survived by five sons, Grover Gibson and wife Linda of High Point, N.C., Donald Gibson of Bluefield, Edward Gibson and wife Donna of Winston-Salem, N.C., Floyd Damon Gibson and wife Dana of Bluefield, Albert Gibson and wife Amber of Bluefield; seven daughters, Ruthie Lester of Davy, Ardie Mullins and husband Michael of Spartanburg, S.C., Janice Orndorff of Welch, Mona Bennett of Williamsburg, Ky., Frances Lester and husband Darrell of Iaeger, Mary Cole and husband Charles of Lantry, Fla., Kasheka “Baby Doll” Vair and husband Christopher of Welch; 31 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; his girlfriend, Gearldine McPeak of Welch.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 24, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Widener Funeral Home Chapel, Kimball with the Rev. Dean Hatfield officiating. Burial will follow at the New Community Cemetery, Asco.
Friends may call Friday from 6 to 8:00 p.m. at the Widener Funeral Home, Kimball.

Virginia Garrett Gwynn
BLUEFIELD, Va. — Virginia Garrett Gwynn, 84, of Bluefield, Va., and formerly of Beckley, passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at Westwood Health Care in Bluefield, Va.
Born on Nov. 13, 1922 in Giles County, Va., she was a daughter of the late Edward and Edith Wall Garrett. She had been a resident at Westwood for two years and was a member of the Duhring Church of Christ. She was a retired bookkeeper.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Gwynn.
Cryptside services will be conducted on Friday, March 23, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Bluewell with Minister Paul Delida officiating.
Those wishing to attend services are asked to meet at the mausoleum at the service time.

James R. Lester
PRINCETON — James R. Lester, 81, of Princeton, died Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at the Pulaski Health and Rehab Center in Pulaski, Va. Born June 24, 1925 in Oakvale, he was the son of the late James B. Lester and Emma Akers Lester.
Mr. Lester was retired from Ingersoll Rand Co. as a field supervisor and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II having served with the 3rd Army Group. He was a member of the Princeton Advent Church, the Princeton Masonic Lodge No. 134, Princeton Woodmen of the World Lodge No. 217 and the American Legion Post No. 9 of Bluefield.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Hobert Lester, Lacy Lester, Gartha Lester and Glen Lester; and three sisters, Margie Parcell, Virgie Sewell and Annie Cooper.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Annie Beatrice Broyles Lester; two sons, Melvin Lester and his wife, Kathy of Bedford, Va. and Larry Dale Lester of Greeneville, Tenn.; two granddaughters, Kelly Lester and Courtney Lester both of Greeneville; several nephews and nieces including special care givers, Carol and Wally Brockmeyer of Pulaski, Va.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 23, 2007 at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with the Rev. Rob Buchanan and the Rev. Orville Harvey officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

DUBLIN, Va. — Nancy Lee Machincia, 77, of Dublin, passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2007.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Coila Wiseman Hall; three brothers, Norman, Otis, and Eddie Hall; and two sisters, Betty Blankenship and Margaret Davis.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, John and Nancy E. Machincia Jr. of Christiansburg, Va.; a brother and sister-in-law, Billy Joe and Peggy Hall of Dublin; special niece, Barbara Hall Castle of Churchill, Tenn.; two grandchildren and spouse, Jessica and Trinity Heckman of Elliston, Brad Machincia of Christiansburg.

Mr. Adolphus H. (Doc) Noel
KINGSPORT, Tenn. — Mr. Adolphus H. (Doc) Noel, 86, of Kingsport, formerly of Swords Creek, Va., passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at the Wexford House in Kingsport following an extended illness.
Mr. Noel was born in Russell County, Va. on May 18, 1920 to the late Joseph and Artie Dye Noel and was a life long resident of the Swords Creek community. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II having served in England. He was a member of the Casey Short V.F.W. Post 9640 and the New Garden Primitive Baptist Church. He was a retired coal miner and retired employee of the Russell County School System.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Noel was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond Noel and Carl Noel and one sister, Mary Noel Boyd.
Mr. Noel is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mrs. Gladys Owens Noel; two daughters, Ruth Ann Stevens and husband Bill of Lenoir, N.C. and Judy M. Lake and husband Richard of Kingsport, Tenn.; three brothers, Ralph Noel of Walls, Miss., Paul Noel of Avon Park, Fla. and Phillip Noel of Aiken, S.C.; one sister, Beatrice Creech of Richlands, Va.; two grandsons, Michael Robinson and Dana Robinson; one step grandson, Billy Stevens; five great grandchildren, two step great grandchildren; and special friend and caregiver, Rhonda Ward also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Adolphus H. (Doc) Noel will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 23, 2007 at the Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff, Va. with Elders Ronnie Beavers, Willard Owens and Robert Whitt officiating.
