Mr. Bruce Alan Capshaw
NORTH TAZEWELL, Va. — Mr. Bruce Alan Capshaw, 48, of the Adria section of North Tazewell, passed away Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007, in a Tazewell, Va., hospital following a sudden illness.
He was born Aug. 10, 1958 in Tullahoma, Tenn. and was the son of Wendell Alan and Wanza Smith Capshaw, both of Tullahoma. He had lived most of his life in Tennessee and had made his living as a truck driver. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa Capshaw; daughter, Katie Reshea Capshaw of the home; sons, John David Capshaw and wife Angie of Raven, Va., Wendell Dewayne Capshaw of Huntsville, Tenn., and Jonathon Duane Capshaw of the home; sisters, Pam Phillips of Estill Springs, Tenn., and Karen Paige of Lynchburg, Va.; grandchildren, Dalton Capshaw, BreAnna Jordan, Cheyenne Capshaw, and December Capshaw; step grandson, Zachary Ryan Davis.
Funeral services for Bruce Capshaw will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007, at Hurst-Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Richlands, Va., with the Rev. Johnathan Roberts officiating. Interment will follow at Hankins Cemetery in Richlands.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

William Jefferson “Jeff” Hagy
TAZEWELL, Va. — William Jefferson “Jeff” Hagy, 90, of Tazewell, passed away Friday, Jan. 26, 2007, at Westwood Medical Center in Bluefield, Va.
Born March 29, 1916 in Tazewell County, Va., he was a son of the late Joseph Adam “Joe” and Sara Attelia Gillespie Hagy. He was of the Christian faith and was a member of Tazewell Christian Church, where he was a member of the Christian Men's Fellowship. Mr. Hagy attended Tazewell High School and graduated from Logan High School in Logan. He attended Bluefield College and Bristol Industrial School. He worked at Portsmouth Naval Yard as a First Class Machinist during World War II, and subsequently worked at New River and Pocahontas Coal Company. He was an instructor at Tazewell County Vocational School and retired from Pittston Coal Company at Jewell Ridge, Va. Mr. Hagy was a member and past president of Witten Fort Long Rifle Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Sandra Kay Hagy; five sisters, Sally Thompson, Ruth Bowen, Thelma Huffman, Grace Yost and Janice Yowell; three brothers, James Hagy, Joe Hagy and George C. Hagy.
Survivors include his loving wife of over 65 years, Nanola Howery Hagy; one son, Donald Wayne Hagy and wife Bonnie of Tazewell; one daughter, Billie Jean Campbell and husband Ted of Naples, Fla.; two grandchildren, Amanda Shelton and husband Michael of Charlotte, N.C., and Jeff Campbell and wife Caroline of Chicago, Ill.; one brother, Donald Richard Hagy of Piney Town, N.C.; two sisters, Louise Sauder and husband Roy of Sophia, and Edith McJilton of Baltimore, Md.; several nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007, at Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell with the Rev. Michael Stump officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Va.
Pallbearers will be Donald Ray Bowen, Billy Altizer, Jim Kulchar, Bob Corell, Frank Pyott and Jack Repass. Honorary pallbearers will be David Altizer, R.T. Bowen and Richard Monk.

Dinah Lynn Magyar
PRINCETON — Dinah Lynn Magyar, 51, of Woodcrest Addition, Princeton, died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007, at her home, surrounded by family and friends, after suffering from a brief illness. Born April 19, 1955 in Welch, she was the daughter of Louis Wyatt of Princeton and the late Doris Newsome Wyatt.
Dinah was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Princeton. She graduated with a business diploma from Gary High School in Gary. She received her Associate and Baccalaureate Nursing degrees from Bluefield State College in Bluefield and a Masters Degree in Nursing Administration from Bellarmine University in Louisville, Ky. She was a board certified Clinical Nurse Specialist. She worked as a dedicated registered nurse in various roles at Princeton Community Hospital for over 25 years, serving in staff as well as management positions. Her last role, prior to her illness, was serving as Director of Quality and Case Management.
In addition to her father, she is survived by two brothers, Dennis Wyatt and his wife Linda of Princeton, and Dan Wyatt and his wife Sue of Titusville, Fla.,; two sisters, Donna Whipp and her husband Jim of Jefferson City, Tenn., and Darlene Andis and her husband Ken (Dickie) of Titusville; three nephews, Steven Mitchem and his wife Conni, Richard Mitchem and his wife Tina and Ryan Mitchem, all of Jefferson City; and 10 nieces, Paula Bishop and her husband Gene, Brittany Bishop and Monica Bishop, all of Bluefield, Amanda Mitchem, Kelsey Mitchem, Taia Mitchem and Melissa Mitchem, all of Jefferson City, and Deah Andis, Daedra Andis and Savannah Andis, all of Titusville.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007, at Immanuel Baptist Church in Princeton with the Rev. Dan Jividen officiating. Entombment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Princeton.
Serving as pallbearers will be Maxie Hereld, Kevin Graham, Jeff Yahya, Allen Pendleton, Mac McClanahan and Dr. Charles Mirabile. Larry Reed will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

Ancel Vernon Marshall
PEARISBURG, Va. — Ancel Vernon Marshall, 91, of Pearisburg and formerly of Staunton, Va. and Norfolk, Va., departed this life on his heavenly voyage Saturday evening, Jan. 27, 2007, at Kroontje Health Care Center in Blacksburg, Va.
Born in Nemours on Aug. 9, 1915, he was a son of the late Henry M. and Levada Sutphin Marshall. He was a very proud alumnus of Narrows High School and Green Wave Football, served in the CCC camps after high school graduation and served his country in the U.S. Navy for over 28 years. Ancel served in active combat in the Pacific Theater during World War II and Korean Conflict, attaining the rank of Chief Warrant Officer before his retirement in 1964. He was a member of American Legion Post 68 in Narrows, Va., and was proud of his association with his family in Marshall’s Lodge on Doe Mountain in Giles County, Va., and kept the camp rocking with his wit and humor. Often called “Yank” by his family, he was “tough as a pine knot” but loved his family very much.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Hilda Keuerleber Marshall and his second wife, “Katie” Kathleen Myres Crist Marshall; a grandson, Stephen Morse; five brothers, Marchie, Hyman, Levi, Roby, and Ted Marshall; and three sisters, Dovie Boswell, Winters Sarver and June Marshall.
He leaves to cherish his memory a daughter and son-in-law, Linda Diane and Larry Nunnally of Concord, Calif.; a grandson, David Morse of Oakland, Calif.; a brother, Sam Marshall of Narrows; a sister, Olivia M. Kendall of Pembroke, Va.; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. Entombment services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Oak Lawn Mausoleum in Staunton.

SPRINGVILLE, Va. — Alma Conner King Stephens, 94, of Springville, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007, in Bluefield, Va., following a brief illness.
Mrs. Stephens was born Aug. 30, 1912 in McComas to Noah and Hattie Conner. She was a homemaker and was a member of Mt. Zion Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Tracy King and Kent Stephens; son, Jimmy King; daughter, Norma Israel; and by two brothers, three sisters and one stepson.
Left to cherish her memory is a sister, Elsie Conner of Springville; sons, Gene King of Falls Mills, Va., Richard “Dickie” King and wife Edna of Haymarket, Va., Anthony Stephens and wife Cora of Springville; daughters, Beanna Stinson and husband Clarence of Springville, Donna Stout and husband Lonnie of Springville, and Sandra McClanahan of Bluefield; two stepdaughters, Lois Fortune of Virginia Beach, Va., and Jewell Potts of Georgia; 22 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and 12 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Dudley Memorial Chapel in Bluefield, Va., with the Rev. Ray Amos and the Rev. Keith Stiltner officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memory Gardens, Bluefield, Va.
