Laurina Virgili Miano, age 82, of 358 Stewart Street in Welch, passed away peacefully at her home May 18, 2013 with her two children by her side.
She was born October 4, 1930 in Maitland, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Loges and Enrica Roncella Virgili. She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband of 51 years, Paul Miano; by her brother, Frank Virgili; and by her sisters, Mrs. Otis (Mary) McKenzie and Mrs. Angelina Dolbier.
Laurina was a member of St. Peter Parish in Welch. She was a graduate of Welch High School (Class of 1948) and of McClain's Business College. She worked for Appalachian Power Company and for the City of Welch.
We are so proud of her. She let very few people know about it but she was a cancer survivor for 42 years. She was the only babysitter her grandsons ever had. She was her husband's caregiver for the last six years of his life – no one ever took better care of anyone than she did for him.
She will be greatly missed by survivors including one son, Paul Miano Jr. of Welch; one daughter, Kathyrn Sparks and husband Joe Sparks of Welch; grandsons, Christopher Sparks and Steven Sparks of Welch; sister, Mrs. Walter (Catherine) Belcher of Princeton, West Virginia; brother-in-law and sister, Dr. and Mrs. Alvaro (Helen) Bracoloni of Danielson, Connecticut; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Tony (Nancy) Miano of Radford, Virginia; and many nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held for family and friends Wednesday, May 22nd at St. Peter Catholic Church in Welch from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Welch at 11:00 a.m. with Father Paul Manickathan as celebrant. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Bluewell, West Virginia.
