WITTENSMILL, Va. —
Billy Maynard Hicks, 71, of Wittensmill, passed away Friday, May 3, 2013 at Heritage Hall, Tazewell, Va. He was born December 25, 1941 in Virginia to the late William Maynard and Velva Hicks.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife: Judice Layne Hicks; sons: Carl Maynard Hicks, Roanoke, Va., Mark Bowen Hicks and wife Karen, Adria, Va., Kevin Christopher Hicks, Wittensmill; sisters: Wanda Kent, Missouri, Connie Voll and husband Pete, North Carolina, Becky Turley and husband Larry, Tazewell, Venisha Buchanan and husband Steve, North Tazewell; brothers: Bruce Hicks and wife Kathy, North Tazewell, Anthony Hicks and wife Connie, North Tazewell; several nieces and nephews; Jack Melvin, special friend and fishing buddy; and all his caregivers at Heritage Hall.
Services to celebrate Mr. Hicks life will be held on Monday, May 6, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Dudley Memorial Chapel in Bluefield, Va. with the Rev. Jim Horn officiating. Burial will follow in the Grandview Memory Gardens with Charles Butcher, Jerry Chambers, Lonnie Sparks, Buddy Jones, JR Lambert, Kenny French and William Chambers serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Maloyed, Dave Harvey, Don Meade and Gene Sparks.
Friends may visit with the family on Monday, May 6, 2013 from 12 noon until hour of service at Dudley Memorial Mortuary in Bluefield, Va.
