Born March 18, 1920 in Hilltop, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Hollie Meadows and Leota Pettrey Meadows. Elsie was a retired seamstress for Maidenform, Inc. in Princeton with thirty six years service and was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. She was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Zina Edward Brookman; two sons, James Arnold Brookman and Lonnie Brookman; three brothers, Junior Meadows, James Meadows, and Bill Ed Meadows; and one sister, Lavella Pettrey.
Survivors include two daughters, Marie Wiley and Elizabeth Sue Taylor and husband Edward, all of Princeton; three sons, Edward Hozah Brookman and Freddie Brookman and wife Judy all of Princeton, and Brent Brookman of Charles Town, Md.; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Bennie Ferguson of Athens; and two sisters, Evaline White and Frances Bowling both of Princeton.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 4, 2013 at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with Thurman Belcher officiating. Burial will follow at the Pettrey Cemetery. Her son-in-law and grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12:00 Noon until the service hour on Saturday.
