SEVERN, Md. —
Melda Gay Hicks, 59, of Severn, Md., died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013 at the Baltimore-Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie, Md. Born May 27, 1953 in Bluefield, she was the daughter of the late Archie Hicks and Delores Walker Hicks.
She was a graduate of Arundel High School in Severn, Md. and worked as an analyst for the National Security Agency from 1971 to 2006. Melda enjoyed games, reality television, the Baltimore Ravens, and loved spending time with her family and friends. She was loved by all who knew her and her passing left a huge hole in the hearts of her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Ronald Shorter; maternal grandparents, Emory and Hattie Walker; and paternal grandparents, Bessie and James Hicks.
Survivors include four brothers, Willard Hicks of Topeka, Kan., Daniel Hicks of Centreville, Va., Jerry Walker of Belvedere, S.C., and Arnold Walker of Topeka, Kan.; two sisters, Darlene Roberts of Medina, Ohio and Yvonne Wiles of Clarksville, Tenn.; many beloved nieces and nephews; cherished friends, Susan Brewer, Mickey and Anna Leight, and Jeannie and Jim Kinkade; and nieces in heart, Melissa Leight, Chelsea Leight, and Little Chloe.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon, Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013 at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with the Rev. Larry Dyer officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the service hour on Saturday.
