Mrs. Delores C. “Lois” Hairston Burrell, age 70, of P.O. Box 601, Kimball, WV 24853, peacefully departed this life early Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Welch Community Hospital.
She was born December 2, 1942 in Vivian, W.Va., and the daughter of the late Furnell and Arlene (Franklin) Hairston. She was a graduate of both Kimball High School and the Barber and Beauty School in Institute, W.Va. Lois resided in Kimball her entire life where she was a self-employed barber for 32 years. Many years ago she joined Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church under the pastoral ship of the late Rev. James Wormley.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bryant Burrell and three of her brothers, Frank, Jesse and Phillip Hairston.
She leaves many cherished memories to her devoted family, which includes: Her two brothers, Ernest L. Hairston of Orange, N.J. and Harry N. Hairston Sr. of Havaco, W.Va.; three sisters, Mary I. Amerson of Wynne, Ark., Lorene M. Neal and Martha E. Price both of Kimball and a host of nephews and nieces; great-nephews, great-nieces and her many dear friends and customers.
Services will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Miracle Mt. Carmel Holiness Church in Kimball with the Rev. Nathaniel Burroughs officiating, assisted by the Rev. Harold Calloway. Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Bluewell, W.Va.
Her brothers and nephews will serve as pallbearers and her nieces and friends as flower bearers.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., until time of service on Wednesday at the church.
