John Andrew Kaczynski, age 61, of 60 Summers Street, Welch, WV, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 30 in Charlotte, N.C. due to complications from lung cancer.
Born on July 23, 1951 in Pittsburgh, Pa., he was the only child of John and Ann Kaczynski of Pittsburgh, Pa.
He had been a resident of Welch for 38 years. He was a retired school teacher with McDowell County Board of Education. John taught and coached in several McDowell County schools through the years, including: Bartley Elementary and Junior High School, War Junior High School, Big Creek High School and Fall River Elementary School. He received his undergraduate degree from California University of Pennsylvania and his Master's in Education from Marshall University.
Survivors include daughters, Michelle Kaczynski Carlson and husband Eric of Charlotte, N.C. and Amy Kaczynski of Charleston.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013 at 1 p.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Father Paul officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell.
Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5 at the funeral home.
