KNOXVILLE, Tenn. —
Robert Newton Meadows, 84, of Knoxville, TN, formerly of Willowton, WV, passed away Sunday, April 20, 2014 at Tennova Hospice.
Born June 20, 1929, he was the son of the late James E. and Myrtle Thomas Meadows. He was a retired boilermaker from the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Local Lodge 45, Richmond, VA. He was a member of the Willowton Christian Church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Imogene Turner Meadows, an infant daughter, 4 brothers and 8 sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Ina Lee Brindle Meadows of Knoxville, TN, a daughter Cora Lynn (Peaches) Lester of Bluefield, WV, stepsons Kip Lester of Knoxville, TN, with whom he made his home, and Keith Lester of Kingsport, TN. Grandsons Robbie Lester and wife Andi, their 4 children McKenzie, Devin, Sydney and Ava, of Bluefield, VA, Josh Lester of Charleston, WV, 2 sisters Mary Billos and husband Leon of Narrows, VA, and Joan Meadows of Willowton, WV, 1 brother Tommy Meadows and wife Shirley of Willowton, WV, sisters-in-law Leona Meadows of Willowton, and Mildred Meadows, and several nieces and nephews that he was fond of.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at the Willowton Christian Church, Willowton, WV with Mike Robertson, Minister of the Church and Rev. Aubrey Whitlow officiating. Burial will follow at the Sunrise Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Rich Creek, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday April 22, 2014 at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home in Peterstown, WV, and at the church one hour prior to the service.
