BLUEFIELD — William Eastwood Albert, 89, of Bluefield, W.Va., died Sunday, June 16, 2013 at his home.

Born in Belspring, Va. on October 20, 1923, he was the last living son of Isaac Early Albert and Glyno Garretson Albert. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Mark, Earl, Jack, Dale, Bob and Larry; and a sister, Dorothy.  

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Mary Malamisura Albert who he married on June 19, 1947; two sons, William E. Albert and wife Toni, and Randall M. Albert and wife Cindy, all of Bluefield; sister, Adele Davidson of North Augusta, S.C.; three grandchildren, David William Albert and wife Stephanie of Dublin, Ireland, Christina Marie Albert Gunter and husband Aaron of Bluefield, Ryan Mark Albert and wife Brittany of Wilmington, N.C.; three great grandchildren, Conor, Cordelia and Cormac Albert; numerous nieces and nephews; and five caregivers, Vittoria Lijoi, Libby Perdue, Elizabeth “Toots” Tynes, Tamara Payne Combs and Ronda Rose.   

Bill had a long career as a route salesman with Southern Maid, Cole Baking Company and Flowers Baking, working for many years in the Tazewell area where he had many friends. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed both freshwater and saltwater fishing up until his health declined. He was an avid supporter of Bluefield High School Athletics where he enjoyed watching both of his sons and grandsons all wear the number 54 while playing football. He was an avid baseball fan and he and his friends made an annual pilgrimage to Baltimore to attend games for over forty years. Bill loved life and his family, and anyone that he met was a friend for life. He will be missed by all that knew him. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bluefield.  

The family received friends at Mercer Funeral Home on Tuesday evening, June 18, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. A Christian Wake Service was held at 7:00 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted today (Wednesday), June 19, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. from Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Paul Wharton officiating. Entombment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton where Ryan Albert, Duke Albert, Steve Albert, Rocky Malamisura, Paul Pendleton and Aaron Gunter will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Clarence Albert, Carlton Albert, Bill Neal, Jim Campbell, Larry Perdue, Jim Deskins, Patsy Malamisura Michael Malamisura, and John Mastrandrea.  

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request that memorial contributions, if desired, be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Food Pantry, 1003 Wyoming Street, Bluefield, WV 24701.
