WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. —
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Betty Jeanette Reed Clancy, 79, of Winston Salem passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2014. She was born on June 4, 1934 in Gilliam, McDowell County, W.Va. to the late, Raymond Edward Reed and Mabel Elledge Reed. Mrs. Clancy graduated from North Fork HS. She served her country in the US Navy and retired from EAL and SATO travel. She enjoyed gardening, traveling the world and was an avid reader.
Betty is preceded in death by Clarence Raymond Reed (brother); Francis John Clancy Jr. (father of her children); Nicholas Grimanis (son-in-law). Betty is survived by sisters, Sue Carolyn Williams (Bob), St. Cloud, Fla.; Harriett Sedke (Chet), Tavares, Fla.; four daughters, Anne Clancy Thomas (R. Tracy) Siloam, N.C.; Cindy Clancy Nelson (Jim) Huntsville, Ala.; Corinne Doster (Dr. Freeman), Lookout Mountain, Ga.; Carolyn Grimanis; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren who lovingly referred to her as Gaga.
A funeral mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, Winston Salem, N.C. Memorial contributions can be made to Fisher House Foundation, Inc., 111 Rockville Pike, Suite 420, Rockville, MD 20850.
