PRINCETON — Mary Lucille Byrd Shumaker, 92, of Christopher Avenue, Princeton, went home to meet her Lord and Savior Monday evening, February 10, 2014 at her residence.

Born May 18, 1921, in Princeton, she was the daughter of the late Cecil Henry Byrd & Ruby Lee Moulder Byrd.

Mrs. Shumaker was a graduate of Princeton High School and a long time member of Johnston Chapel Baptist Church on Halls Ridge Road near Princeton.  She was a former employee for G.C. Murphy's and Lee's Children Shop both in Princeton.  While her health permitted, she enjoyed cooking, sewing, knitting and quilting. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Shumaker.

She will be lovingly remembered by her three children, Jeffrey Lynn Shumaker and wife Betty, Jerry Richard Shumaker and wife Carolyn, Sandra Lugean Spencer and husband Michael all of Princeton; 13 grandchildren, Sherri Snead, Brian and Julie Shumaker, Ashley and Zach Smith, Brandon and Megan Shumaker, Michael and Lisa Hall, Tina Hall, Melissa Marcum, Richard Shumaker, Evan and Jill Shumaker, Brett Shumaker, Tina and Brian Cochran, Leah Ann and Timmy Wimmer, Sarah Spencer and her fiancée Noah Hastings; 16 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; Siblings Hilda Grace Martin, Raymond Lee and Pat Byrd all of Princeton and her extended family who loved her dearly, Patty Branscome, Douglas Laurin, Gypsie Blankenship & Star Bishop.

A service to celebrate the life of Mary Lucille Shumaker will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, February 15, 2014 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor's Dr. John King, Jim Simmons and Jim Nofsinger officiating & singing.

Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the service hour at the funeral home. Online condolence may be shared with the family via www.memorialfd.com

Grandsons and family will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to the Appalachian Teen Challenge.
