Charles Perry “Yacht” Proffitt

PRINCETON — Born May 2, 1932, in Tazewell, Virginia, he was the son of the late Perry Proffitt and Sadie Proffitt.

Yacht was educated in Tazewell County and was a former resident of Welch for many years. While his health permitted, he was self employed as a plumber and handy man. He enjoyed going to flea markets.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers; H. P. & Jack Proffitt.

Survivors include his daughter, Ann Hall and husband Rex of Princeton; two grandchildren: Victor Cumby, Donna Layne and husband Tom; two great-grandchildren: Victoria and Elizabeth Booth; and two siblings: Major Proffitt and wife Joyce of Ohio, his twin sister, Barbara Gillespie of Bluefield.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2013 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Gene Pennington officiating. Burial will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.

Friends may visit with the family Friday from noon until the service hour at the funeral home. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
