DORAN, Va. — Born December 5, 1959 in Kingsport, Tennessee, he was the son of Betty Taylor Carter of Duffield, Virginia and the late Joe Harold Taylor.  He was a safety inspector/compliance coordinator for SunCoke Energy Jewell Operations for 26 years.  He was a team member of the Jewell Mine Rescue from 1988–2010.

In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Maynard and Dona Giles and Kyle and Maudedella Taylor.

He was best friend and life partner to his wife, Debbie; loving and caring father, father-in-law and grandfather to his son, Brandon, daughter-in-law, Lisa and grandson, Parker.  

In addition to his mother he is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Debbie Taylor; one son, Brandon Lee Taylor and wife Lisa of Richlands, Va; one grandson, Parker Easton Taylor of Richlands, Va.;  one brother, Eddie Taylor and wife Beth of Raven, Va.; one sister, Lisa Dockery and husband Dennis of Marion, Va.; mother and father-in-law, Herman and Bonnie Sargent of Raven, Va.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Brenda Sargent of Raven, Va., Judy Honaker and husband Allen of Raven, Va., Bill Sargent and wife Pam of Lebanon, Va., Bob Sargent and wife Cleo of Cedar Bluff, Va.; two special uncles, Tommy Taylor and Jerry Taylor; many nieces and nephews and his extended Jewell family.      

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 16, 2013 at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel at Cedar Bluff, Virginia with Pastor Chester Caudill and Pastor Buddy Osborne officiating. Entombment will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Mike Horne, James Stacy, J.P. Richardson, Greg Ratliff, Elmer Vandyke and Bill Sargent.   

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 P.M. Saturday at Singleton Funeral Service at Cedar Bluff, Virginia.
