Reese Franklin “Frank” Cline Jr.

PRINCETON — Psalm 34:1 “I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth.”

Reese Franklin “Frank” Cline Jr., 72, of Worrell Street, Princeton, formerly of Raysal, died Sunday, April 21, 2013 at his residence. Born March 24, 1941, at Hemphill, he was the son of the late Reese F. Cline, Sr. and Fannie Tate Cline.

Frank was a graduate of Big Creek High School in War. Frank joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1959 and served until his retirement in 1979 as a GySgt with 20 years of service. Frank had served his country during several conflicts and had received a Purple Heart Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Mast, Presidential Unit Citation, Republic Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic Vietnam Service Medal and Combat Action Ribbon.

Upon his retirement from the military, he was employed by Appalachian Power Company, retiring with 21 years of service while working in the storeroom. Frank was a member of the Roger Street Community Church in Princeton.

Frank loved the Lord and enjoyed reading his Bible on a daily basis. He loved football and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. While his health permitted he loved to jog. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Josephine Phipps.

He will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 52 years, Lavern Blevins Cline; three children, Terri Baker and her husband Jerry of Cleveland, N.C., Tim Cline and his wife Angie of Shelby, N.C., Tony Cline of Mooresville, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Cassie Cox, Michelle Clark, Desiree Baker, Patince Baker, Caleb Cline, Logan Cline, Ann Connor Cline; three great-grandchildren, Jadon, Natalie and Skyler; two siblings, Roger Cline and his wife Billie of Hardy Va., Carol Lockhart of Panther. And his faithful and loving 4 legged companion, Buttons.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2013 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Gene Pennington officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery in Princeton. Full military honors will be given by the U.S. Marine Corps Honor Guard and the Mercer County Veterans Council.

Friends may visit with the family Thursday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

The Cline family is being served by the Memorial Funeral Directory and Cremation Center on the Athens Road in Princeton.
