RICHLANDS, Va. — Rachel Marie Wess, age 88, of Richlands, Virginia, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2013.

Born April 14, 1925 in Tazewell County, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late John Henry Lamie and Carrie Reedy Lamie. She was a member of Full Gospel Temple Miracle Valley.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Garnet Wess; two sisters, Ruby Cox and Carrie Keene; and one brother, Buster Lamie.

She is survived by two sons, Jerry Wess and wife Joyce of Baptist Valley, Va. and Terry Wess and wife Wanda of Claypool Hill, Va.; two daughters, Linda VanDyke and husband Ronnie of Richlands, Va. and Joyce Keene and husband Lonnie of Bland, Va.; six grandchildren, Dr. Kevin Wess, Jerry Wess, Jill Absher, Jackie Shaffer, Kim Owens and Wes Keene; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; three sisters, Maggie Fields, Annie Lowe and Hallie Nunley; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel at Cedar Bluff, Virginia with the Rev. Tony Shrader officiating. Entombment will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Full Gospel Temple Lady’s Circle, 500 Miracle Valley Drive, Richlands, VA 24641.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Singleton Funeral Service at Cedar Bluff, Virginia.
