WELCH — Born September 4, 1921, in Bottom Creek, he was the son, of the late Nicoli and Angelina Montoni Sidote.

He was the co owner of Pocahontas Broadcasting from 1950 to 1988; and the licensee of WELC AM FM in Welch. He was very active in many civic clubs and fundraisers. His best saying was “hip hip hooray no school today.”  He was preceded in death by, in addition to his parents; his wife, Mary DelSignore Sidote, one infant sister and one sister, Mary Sidote Larkin.

Survivors include one son John Sidote and wife Vivian of Welch, and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, February 7, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. from the St. Peter Catholic Church in Welch with Father Soosai Arpudam Arokiadass, H.G.N., as celebrant. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Bluewell WV. Friends may call Friday February 7, 2014 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Welch, from 10 A.M to 11 A.M.

Pallbearers will be Charlie Honaker, Rev. Tim Hairston, Carmella Miano, Luke Gianato, Jim Redmond, and Junior Lester. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Grasso, Rev. Chuck Hammond, Rev. Weldon Holiday and Joe Monti. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to McDowell County Humane Society, Box 714, Welch, WV 24801.

Fanning Funeral Home of Welch is serving the Sidote family.
