AVONDALE — — Jimmy was born June 28, 1938, in Beartown, WV, a son of the late Burl and Mable Stanley. He was a retired coal miner, dozer operator and logger. Jimmy was a diehard fan of Iaeger High School. He was baptized in the river in his wheel chair. Jimmy was a brave person who never complained of his injuries and made the most of each day.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one child, Brenda Stanley; a grandchild, Rodney Stanley; his brothers and sisters, Burl Stanley, Jr., Calvin Stanley, Kat and Jim Addair, Joan Stanley, J.C. Stanley, and Betty Jean Stanley; and his brothers-in-law, Edgar Brant, John Donnelly and Luther “Shag” Addair

Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Johnnie Stanley of the home; his children, Lynn and Marvin Rowe of Atwell, James Stanley Jr. and Tammy of Bristol, TN, Timothy and Margaret Stanley of Long Bottom, Jeffery Stanley of Princeton, Cathy Stanley and Terry of Tazewell, VA, Tracy Stanley of Princeton, and Brien and Donna Manes from next door; his sisters and brothers, Gertrude Donnelly “Cricket” of Iaeger, Veronica Baker “Tootsie” of Iaeger, Roger and Sherry Stanley of Sioux City, Iowa, Forrest and Berneice Stanley “Buster” of Iaeger, Dennis Stanley “DC” of Montcalm, and Oliver Stanley of Avondale; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Jean Addair of Grapevine, Georgia Cook of Petersburg, VA, Danny and Resi Lowery of Bluefield, Shelia and Larry Payne of Manassas, VA, Grace Campbell of Cherow, SC, Henry and Sherry Lowery of Amma, WV, Jimmy and Mary Lowery of Iaeger, Sue and Bobby Puckett of Pounding Mill, VA, Bob and Pam Lowery of Blue Ridge, VA, and Dale Lowery of New Orleans, LA. Jimmy is also survived by his grandchildren, Jessica and Jackie Dillon, Casey Rowe and Paige, James Stanley III, Jeremy and Tarrah Stanley, Courtney Stanley, Melissa Roberts, Nicole Cates, Quentin Keene, Brenda Stanley, Jeffery Stanley, Jr., Heather Stanley, Whitney Hurley, Amber Stanley, Franklin Mullins, Sophia Mullins, Abigail Stanley, Alana Stanley, and Amber and Miranda Whitt of Tazewell, VA. ; his great-grandchildren, Jenna Dillon, Allie and Izzy Stanley, Katlyn Wimmer, Roberta Roberts, Destiny and Deseray Stanley, Destiny Gouvia, Jaycee Stanley, Skyler Stanley, Reanna Hurley, Jeremy Lester, Jr., and Jasper, Colten Mullens and Aubrie Burke; his caregivers, Virginia Evans and the hospice compassus staff.  

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, February 7, 2014, at 12 noon with Reverend Roger Pete Woods, Reverend Kenny Green and Reverend Lennis Jackson officiating at the Church of the Living God at Garland. Burial will follow in the Powell Cemetery at the head of Grapevine on Coon Branch Mountain, near Iaeger, WV.  Serving as pallbearers will Jimmy’s grandsons and nephews, and Shay Bryant his adopted grandson. Honorary pallbearers will be Marvin Rowe, Brien Manes, Bob Jones, and Nolan Mullins.

 Friends may visit with the family at the Church of the Living God at Garland, Thursday evening, February 6, 2014 after 6 p.m., where an evening service will be held at 7 p.m.
