KIMBALL — Samuel Albert Allen, age 92, of (P.O. Box 687), Kimball, WV 24853, peacefully departed this life on Monday, July 1, 2013 at Carilion-Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg, Va. following a lingering illness.

He was born October 24, 1920 in Farmville, Va. and the son of the late John and Montvennia (Branch) Allen. He was a life long resident of Kimball, W.Va. and a member of Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church in Maybeury, W.Va. He was a former member of First Missionary Baptist Church in Kimball where he had served as head usher. He retired from Eastern Associated Coal Company in Keystone, W.Va. and was a member of District 17 UMWA Local 6196. In earlier years, he was employed by N&W Railroad and had worked at Amigo Coal mines. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and enjoyed gardening.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Donegan Allen; one son, Sylvester Allen; three grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and two sisters.

He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his devoted daughters: Wilma Allen, Marvelene Allen and Sadie Allen all of Yonkers, N.Y., Paula Allen of Bronx, N.Y., and Cindy Allen of Suffern, N.Y.; one son, Clyde Allen and wife, Ellen of Dunwoodie, Ga.; one daughter-in-law, Linda H. Allen of Welch, W.Va.; his only sister, Mattie Allen of East Orange, N.J.; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Service for Mr. Allen will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, July 8, 2013 at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church in Maybeury, W.Va. with the Reverend Harold Calloway, officiating, assisted by the Reverend Nathaniel Burroughs. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens on Rt. 20, Littlesburg Road in Bluewell, W.Va.

Family and friends will serve as both pallbearers and flower bearers.            

Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., until time of service on Monday at the church.
