CHESAPEAKE, Va. —
Lillie Alice Jones, 96, of Chesapeake, Virginia, formerly of Princeton, died Saturday, February 23, 2013 in Chesapeake.
Born in Princeton on April 24, 1916, she was the daughter of the late George Wade and Lura Stewart Bailey.
She was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Princeton and she also attended the Church of God on Mahood Avenue in Princeton. She was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter #158 in Bramwell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Jones; son, Robert C. Johnston; daughter, Judith A. Gibhartd; and nine siblings, William Reed Bailey, A.D. Bailey, Hobart Bailey, Carlyle Bailey, Murray Bailey, Lakie Phipps, Virginia Williams, Ella Mae Bradbury and Beatrice Workman.
Survivors include her son, Ed Johnston of Chesapeake, Virginia and her daughter, Renee Schnell of West Palm Beach, Florida; seven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 28, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Paul Stokes and Pastor Dan Jividen officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. An Eastern Star Service will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday by the Bramwell Eastern Star Chapter #158.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 101 South Kanawha Street, Beckley, WV 25801.
