MAXIE, Va. — Vertie Lee Stiltner Clevinger, 80 years of age, of Maxie, VA, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2014 at the Pikeville Medical Center, Pikeville, KY, following an extended illness. Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late Johnny and Cassie Clevinger Bowman. She was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was of the Baptist Faith. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, homemaker and former owner of Harman Super Market.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55-years, Sidney Arthur Clevinger, April 20, 2008; 1-Daughter: Glenda Jean Ratliff; 1-Grandson: Sidney Andrew Clevinger and 1-Brother: J.D. Stiltner.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Sherry Lee Clevinger, Maxie, VA, Loretta Gail (Kennith) Stiltner, Grundy, VA, her son, Sidney A. “Jeff” (Cathy) Clevinger, Jr., Maxie, VA, 1-Granddaughter: Alison Jill Ratliff, 4-Grandsons: Nathaniel Wade Clevinger, Michael Paul Stiltner, James Ray Stiltner, Burlin Lee Ratliff, Jr., 4-Sisters: Audrey Bowman, Harman, VA, Melba Varney, Harman, VA, Ellene Stiltner, Harman, VA, Joann Williams, Abingdon, VA.

Funeral Services for Vertie Lee Stiltner Clevinger will be conducted Tuesday (today), April 22, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Shea Shrader and the Rev. Ronnie Sliger officiating with burial to follow in the Clevinger Cemetery on Maxie, VA.

Friends called at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Monday at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be Nathaniel Wade Clevinger, Kenneth Stiltner, Michael Paul Stiltner, Burlin Lee Ratliff, Jr., David Williams, Randall Clevinger, Les Clevinger, Roger Clevinger and Henry Cantrell.

Honorary Pallbearers will be John, Chancey, Tammy, Theresa, Savannah, Brandy and Alice of the 6th Floor I.C.U. at Pikeville Medical Center, Girls at the Mountain View Nursing Home in Elkhorn City, KY, especially Brittany, Lucille, Eleanor and Chondra, Dr. M. and Dr. G. of Pikeville Medical Center.
