Thomas Preston Evans

PRINCETON — Thomas Preston Evans, 62, of Straley Avenue in Princeton, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Va. Born Dec. 15, 1949, in Leckie, W.Va., he was the son of the late Norman Hampton and Dessie Mary Sheets Evans.

He was a retired welder and a member of the Mercer County Democratic Club. He was a graduate of Gary High School and received an Associate's Degree from Bluefield State College. He dearly loved his family, friends, and politics.

He is survived by two sisters, Patricia Perry of Linthicum, Md., and Ramonia Kessinger and her husband Jeff of Princeton; two brothers, Stanley Norman Evans of Princeton, and Roger Evans Sr. and his wife Kimberly of Strasburg, Pa.; two nieces, Dorothy Evans, and Brooke Evans; and four nephews, Roger Evans Jr. and his wife Anette, Dylan Evans, Christopher Kessinger, and Matthew Kessinger.

In honoring his wishes, his body has been cremated. A memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24, 2012, at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with Myron Tilley officiating. Friends may call from 12:00 noon until the service hour Monday at the funeral home.
