BLUEFIELD — Josephine “Granny” Catron Taylor, 89, of West Virginia Manor, Bluefield, W.Va., died Tuesday November 26, 2013.
Born May 7, 1924 in Tazewell County, Va., she was a daughter of the late, Thomas Henry Catron and Rissie Mae Bevill Catron. She worked as a cook at Windy Mountain Learning Center and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Elizabeth Gilley; son, James Taylor; husband; three brothers, four sisters; and a very special friend, Harry Kirby.
Survivors include her son, Ron “RT” Taylor of Peterstown, W.Va.; daughter, Brenda Tolliver and husband, Randy of Elliston, Va.; special granddaughter, Sharon Neal and husband, Darrell of Bluefield, W.Va.; grandchildren, Laura Morgan, Karen Gilley, Jason Gilley, Donna Alley of Elliston, Va., Aneatra High of Salem, Va.; special great-grandson, Justin Shrader and wife, Amanda of Bluefield, W.Va.; great-granddaughter, Amber Neal of Bluefield, W.Va.; great-great granddaughter, Aubrey along with nine other great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Edna Middaugh of Michigan; her caregivers and Bluefield Regional Medical Center nurses on 3 West.
The family will receive friends at Mercer Funeral Home on Friday November 29, 2013 from 1:00-2:00 p.m.
Funeral service will follow on Friday at 2:00 p.m. from the Mercer Funeral Home chapel with Mr. Craig Hammond officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton where family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
