Darrell Wayne Sluss, 58, of 1817 Clover Dew Dairy Rd., Princeton, W.Va., passed away Saturday October 15, 2011 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Va. Born in Bluefield, W.Va., he was the son of the late Clyde Marcus Sluss and Daisy Lillie Sluss. He was a retired beltman in mining.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Claude Sluss, Delano Sluss, Mack Sluss and Larry Sluss; and one sister, Ethel Gillespie.
Survivors include three daughters, Rebecca Miller of Elbert, W.Va., Sherri Street (Rocky) of Honaker, Va. and Sarah Sluss (Matt Slone) of Pageton, W.Va.; four brothers, Johnny Sluss of Bluefield, Va., Donald (Sandy) Sluss of Bluefield, Va., Harry Sluss of Boissevain, Va., Terry (Sandy) Sluss of Pocahontas, Va.; four sisters, Audrey (Howard) Hinkle of Pocahontas, Va., Juanita Johnson of Pocahontas, Va., Dora Buchanan of Roanoke, Va. and Barbara Smith of Roanoke, Va.; granddaughters, Destiny, Meredith, Jasmine and Michaela; grandsons, Jamey, Jordan and Jarrett; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the Rodriguez Funeral Home in Pocahontas, Va. with the Reverend Reginald Blakewood officiating. Internment will follow at the Sluss Cemetery on Peel Chestnut Mountain. Friends may call Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Rodriguez Funeral Home in Pocahontas, Va. Pallbearers will be friends and family. The Rodriguez Funeral Home in Pocahontas, Va. is serving the Sluss family.
