PRINCETON — Elizabeth “Betty” Gay Graham Scott, 81, of 136 Willow Wind Lane in Princeton died Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Princeton Community Hospital. Born September 6, 1932 in Piedmont, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late, Howard Irvin Graham and Gladys Walker Graham.
She retired from the Mercer County Board of Education after serving numerous years as secretary of the transportation department. Betty formerly worked for the Mercer County Courthouse, North American Rockwell, Rish Equipment, and Maidenform. She was past president and a member of the Mercer County School Service Personnel Association. She was also a member of the Princeton Church of God. Betty was a simple woman who loved flowers and gardening. She was devoted to her husband and family and provided a good home-life for her loved ones. She had been a lifelong resident of Mercer County.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one infant son, Michael Bruce Scott; one brother, William Howard “Billy” Graham; and one grandson, David Spangler, II. Betty is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Frank Walton Scott Jr.; two sons, Fred Scott and wife, Connie, and Rick Scott and wife, Kathy, all of Princeton; one daughter, Teressa L. Scott of Princeton; four grandsons, Jason P. Scott, and Aaron Scott and wife, Pam, all of Princeton, Casey Scott of Columbia, S.C., and David Arney and wife, Jessica of Bluefield; three great-grandchildren, Taylor J. Scott, Griffin R. Scott, and David L. Spangler III; one brother, Weldon “Wonnie” Graham of Lashmeet; and special friends, Betty Coleman, Tonya Kennedy, Tammy Marie Davis, Robin Rumburg, Barbara Pendleton, Peggy Rutledge, and Angie Smith.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 14, 2014, at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastor Stella Falvo officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Pallbearers will be Jason Scott, Aaron Scott, Casey Scott, Bill Austin, William Jones, and Paul Jones. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2014, at Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton.
