RAYSAL — William Ben Roberts, 83, of Raysal, W.Va., passed away Monday, March
10, 2014 at Clinch Valley Medical Center in Richlands, Va. after a long illness. Born January 23, 1931 in Rockridge, W.Va. he was the son of the late, Troutman and Martha Kennedy Roberts. He worked as a coal miner for 42 years and retired from Island Creek Coal Company.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Della Marie Roberts; two sons, Daniel Roberts and Elza Roberts; two sisters, Armedia Francsic Sims and Lottie Eldridge; three brothers, Lewis Roberts, Dave Roberts and Woodrow Roberts.
Survivors include three sisters, Chloe Leffew of Raysal, W.Va., Pearl Mullins of Bradshaw, W.Va. and Rebecca Moore of Farmville, Va.; two granddaughters, Shellie Roberts and fiancé, Gene Reynolds of Bristol, Tenn. and Crystal Simmons of Bristol, Tenn.; one great-grandson, Vince Simmons of Bristol, Tenn.
Funeral services will be held Thursday March 13, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus in Bartley, W.Va. with the Reverend Roger Woods and the Reverend Ray Estep officiating. Internment will follow at Christian Cemetery in Rockridge, W.Va. Friends may call Wednesday, March 12, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus in Bartley, W.Va. Pallbearers will be family and friends. The Rodriguez Funeral Home in Pocahontas, Va. is serving the Roberts family.
