Kathleen “Kathy" Jackson

PRINCETON — On May 7, 2013, our beloved, Mother, Sister, Soon-to-be Grandma, Aunt, and dear Friend, Kathleen “Kathy" Jackson, left this earth. Her ever-lasting spirit returning home, forever taking its rightful place, along-side our dear Heavenly Father. She was surrounded by her loving sons and caring family members.

Kathy was born June 30, 1952, in Princeton, W.Va., to Ennis and John McCabe. Kathy attended Concord College, graduating in 1974 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She then went on to receive her license to practice social work in 1974. Kathy touched the lives of so many people with her smile and generosity. This amazing lady dedicated her life to social work. She started at Bluefield Regional Hospital where she spent eight years before moving to Princeton Community Hospital for the next twenty-five years. She was passionate about connecting with patients and families to assist in difficult decisions. Kathy was a caring person who only looked for the good in people and treated everyone with generosity.

She was active in various committees at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. After the death of her darling husband Jackie Jackson in 1997 Kathy demonstrated her skills as a fighter and survivor overcoming several health obstacles while still maintaining her independence. In her spare time she enjoyed reading and cooking but mostly loved spending time with her family, in particular her two sons.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ennis McCabe, and her husband Jackie Jackson.

She will be forever missed by two sons, Brent Eugene Jackson and his wife Andrea of Washington, D.C., and John Daniel Jackson of Princeton; one grandson due in July; one sister, Patricia E. “Pat” Johnson and her husband John of Princeton; two brothers, James P. “Dobber” McCabe of Princeton and Michael F. “Mike” McCabe of Charleston; two nephews, Kevin McCabe and Brian McCabe and his wife Amanda; two nieces, Christina Naylor and Kerry McCabe; two great-nephews, Aaron and Brady McCabe; and two great-nieces, Brooke and Addison McCabe.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Princeton with Father Paul Wharton as Celebrant. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may call from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2013, at Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton where a Christian Wake Service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m.
