Brooksie Ellen Chatman Ferguson

WYOMING — Brooksie Ferguson, of Wyoming, passed away Friday, May 3, 2013 at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley.

Brooksie was born June 3, 1935 at Superior, W.Va. to the late Charles E. Chatman and Vergie Bowlick Chatman.

She was a member of the Brenton Baptist Church. She worked several years at Grace Hospital in Welch. Brooksie was a homemaker, she enjoyed visiting with friends and family, and loved to go to yard sales and flea markets.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by infant siblings, George and Georgie Chatman, a brother, Charles E. Chatman and a sister, Mary Ethel Belcher.

Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved husband of 41 years, Stanley E. Ferguson; one son, Michael Anthony Coe and his wife, Chris of Leigh High Acres, Fla.; two grandsons, Michael Coe of Honolulu, Hawaii and Steven Coe of Leigh High Acres, Fla.; one great-grandson, Brenden Coe of Washington and a great-granddaughter, Lianna Coe of Hawaii.

Also surviving Brooksie is her loving sister, Maxine Colo of Bluefield; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and her special friend, Phyllis New of Wyoming.

A celebration of Brooksie’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 7, 2013 in the Calfee Funeral Service Chapel in Pineville with the Rev. Tommy Knotts officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton. Family and friends will gather there at 1:30 p.m. at the mausoleum.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Monday evening, May 6, 2013 at the funeral home.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Brooksie’s name to the American Lung Association of WV, P.O. Box 3980, Charleston, WV 25339-3980 or the Brenton Baptist Church, Brenton, WV 24818.
