CLAYPOOL HILL, Va. —
Russell E. Hurd, age 67, of Claypool Hill, Virginia, left his earthly home in the early morning hours of Saturday, April 27, 2013 in Bristol, Tennessee.
He was born May 26, 1945 in Russell County and was the son of the late Ira and Mae Lois Honaker Hurd.
He was retired from the steel industry in Elmhurst, Illinois and spent most of his adult life in Illinois, prior to moving back to Virginia in 2004. His hobby was woodworking.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Alice Hurd, Glenna Edwards, and Margaret Campbell; and brothers, William “Bingo” Hurd, Ira Hurd Jr., Kenneth Hurd, and John Lee Hurd.
Those left to cherish him include: His loving wife of 48 years: Linda C. Lankford Hurd; one son: Jeffery Scott Hurd of Pounding Mill, Virginia; one daughter: Tina Louise Schrader and husband, Tod of Franklin Park, Illinois; grandchildren: Ashley Hurd of Bloomingdale, Illinois, Brittney Roberts and husband, Alex of Addison, Illinois, Kyle Schrader, and Candace Schrader of Franklin Park, Illinois; great-grandchildren: Jayden Hurd and Alexa Roberts of Addison, Illinois; two brothers: Paul “Jake” Hurd of Lebanon, Virginia and Robert Hurd of Carpentersville, Illinois.
Memorial services for Russell E. Hurd will be conducted Monday, April 29, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Troy Lester officiating.
