Joline Faye Wood age 81, of Kimball, W.V. went to be with the Lord Tuesday, August 20, 2013, at the GlenWood Park Retirement Village, Princeton, W.V. after a long illness. She was born on December 3, 1931 in Kimball, W.V. She was the daughter of the late Brazilla Blaine Surratt and Pearl Byerley Surratt. She was a graduate of the McClains Business College, she was a retired Postal Clerk from the US Postal Service, Kimball, W.V. She was a long time and faithful member of the Houston United Methodist Church, Kimball, W.V. where she served as Organist for over 60 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Faye was a loving and devoted Christian, she was loved by all who knew her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Garnet Wood on May 18, 1997, sister Lazelle Surratt Hopkins, and her mother-in-law and father-in-law John S. and Emma Wood.
Those left to cherish her memory: Two sons Randall C. Wood and wife Tammy Wood of Princeton, W.V., Mark S. Wood and wife Janet of Princeton, W.V.; one grandson Steven B. Wood of Princeton, W.V.; one granddaughter Hayley N. Wood of Princeton, W.V.; one sister Mildred Ritchey of Roanoke, Va.; one brother B.B. Surratt of Greenville, Alabama; four sisters-in-law, Linda Wood, Peggy Johnson and husband Jimmy, Joyce Arlene Payne, and Dolly “Dot” Sweeny; two brothers-in-law Albert Wood and wife Ida, and Donald Wood. Numerous nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be conducted today (Friday), August 23, 2013, at 11:00 A.M. at the Houston United Methodist Church, Kimball, W.V. with the Rev. Brad Blanchard and Rev. Mike Smith officiating. Burial will follow at the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton, W.V.
Friends called on Thursday night at the Widener Funeral Home, Northfork, W.V. from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. and at the Church today one hour prior to services.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Luke Gianato, Jimmy Joe Gianato, Richard Williams, Fred Thompson, Gene Vandevander, David Hammond, David Crigger, Danny Brown, and Anthony Gianato. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Joel A. Schor M.D., James Gianato, Ken Hillyer, Michael Brown, Richard Crigger, Percy Lambert, Ken Evans, and Jim Widener.
