Stella Meadows Lamb, 90, of the Old Lerona Road, Lerona, passed away peacefully in her sleep late Saturday night, October 26, 2013 at her residence surrounded by her family. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Born September 6, 1923, in Summers County, she was the daughter of the late Earnest O. Meadows and Mae Woods Meadows.
Mrs. Lamb was an avid gardener, loving to work in her flowers beds and raise her vegetables. While her health permitted, she enjoyed traveling and going fishing.
On June 3, 1941, she married Vendor O. Lamb who preceded her in death in 1999. She was also preceded in death by four siblings: John H. Meadows, Donzie O. Meadows, Zell Meadows and Pearl M. Isom.
Together they shared five children, three daughters and two sons: Mary Lorena L. Williams of LaGrange, NC, Elizabeth Turpin and husband Larry of Danville, VA, Brenda L. Keaton and husband Edmond of Spanishburg, Johnnie O. Lamb and wife Peggy of Lerona, Donzie L. Lamb and wife Betty of Princeton. She had 12 grandchildren: William Newberry Jr., Regina Shrader, Darryl Turpin, Johnnie Lamb Jr., Dennis Turpin, Laurie L. O'Dell, Adam Lamb, April Gunter, Chris Williams, Edmond Keaton Jr., Andrew Williams and Mary E. Keaton, 34 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren. Two special nieces, Janet Gunther and Mettie Foley.
A service to celebrate the life of Stella Lamb will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, October 29, 2013 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Paul Stokes officiating. Burial will follow in the Athens Cemetery in Athens.
Friends may visit with the family today (Monday) from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
